Here she is! Well, will be once I wait 10-12 Weeks to take delivery...

Wait! I hear you thinking, that's not a 2019 Jeep JL and you are correct (Well Done!). This is INCUS, my 2014 Jeep JK and where this story begins. Purchased new in December of 2013, INCUS began life as a Wrangler Sport S and over the years, was upgraded and tweaked to what you see here. Major upgrades included:
  • AEV 2.5 Dualsport Lift Kit
  • ARB Front & Rear Bumpers with Tire Carrier
  • Stienjager Tube Doors
  • 4.10 Gears and LSD (front & rear) installed by Globex Performance
  • Wrangler Duratrac 285x70x17 tires
  • Front to Rear JCR Skid Plates
  • OME Steering Stabilizer
  • Smittybilt 9500 lbs winch
  • DV8 Electric Steps
  • Bestop Trektop Pro
The remainder of my upgrades and changes were mostly small and comfort driven like heated seats and grab handles. I really enjoyed my Jeep but there were a few items that I was struggling with. Here were my biggest gripes (none are that bad to be honest):
  • Interior Cloth Seats are very hard to keep clean off-road and the neoprene seat covers I purchased, to help with that, got just as dirty, but showed it more.
  • D30 front axle - I have no plans to ever build a hard core rock crawler but I do like to have fun off road when I go out with my Jeep Club and friends.
  • Gas mileage - not much to say here
  • Stereo system - I know this is a Jeep but I had the base factory radio and it is horrible
After quite a bit of back and forth and waiting on the new JT Gladiator, I decided the new JL Rubicon was the right vehicle for me which brings us to the present.

I work for Cisco and we have an employees purchase program through TrueCar so I went online and filled in the forms. Within a few seconds I had two Jeep dealers, one very local and another about 45 minutes away contacting me. The local dealer (where I had purchased a vehicle before) called me and we spoke on the phone, this particular sales person did not seem to know Jeeps at all. They did not know anything about the long rumored JT Gladiator and they could not answer any specific questions on the JL engines. I understand that not all sales people can be Jeep experts but at least have the person you want contacting a potential Jeep Rubicon customer to at least know what engine options there are. Seems like sales 101 to me but maybe not.

The second dealer reached out to me, knew about Jeeps and I setup an appointment to go in that night. This was a Wednesday and by Friday we had my order placed for a Factory Fresh 2019 Jeep Rubicon JL! This is the first time that I have ever ordered a vehicle direct from the factory and to my specifications so I am pretty excited by the prospects. I am a little less excited by the quoted 10-12 weeks for delivery. I prefer the retro look/colors so I had the older CJ 7 color schemes in mind from when Renegades were Renegades.

Here is exactly what I am getting:

  • JLJS74 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
  • 28R Customer Preferred Package
  • EC3 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo eTorque Engine
  • DFT 8-SPD Auto 850RE Trans
  • PW7 Bright White Clear Coat
  • APA Monotone Paint
  • *AL Leather Timmer Bucket Seats
  • -T5 Black/Heritage Tan
  • STC Premium Tan Sunrider Top
  • MM3 Body Colored Fenders
  • AEK Electronic Infotainment Sys Group
  • ADH Trailer Tow and HD Electric Group
  • ADE Cold Weather Group
This all comes to a grand total of $52,210!!! Wow that hurts but it's exactly what I wanted so I jumped in. With my discount we are at $48,829 so I felt a little better, not much but a little still.

The countdown begins...
