2019 Philadelphia Auto Show - Jeep Gladiator Addition!

Thanks to my wife's suggestion, we went to the Philadelphia Auto Show and I got to see and touch a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon in person! It was up on a pedestal (literally) so I could not get inside it but was able to give it a thorough"walk around" and really liked what I saw. There were many other vehicles present at the show but I did not take many pictures of those...

Rumors Overheard at the Show...
  • Gladiators will be priced about $3000 - $5000 more than the comparable trim level of the JL
  • In April, dealers will begin taking orders for Gladiators
  • It will be June before they start hitting dealer showrooms in the Northeast
  • There are 6500 Gladiators that are planned for this first production run for this region (i.e. Northeast)
  • We will only see the V6 Gas engine this year - it will be a full year before the diesel engine is available
  • There will not be a Retractable power top for the Gladiator (at least not anytime soon)
  • About 5 Gladiators are being produced per week currently
Here is a list of the things I did not like about the Gladiator (starting here because pretty much everything else is awesome!

  • Rear entry door still as narrow as on the JL (and JKs) - seems like with the pickup format, they had plenty of room to remedy this but did not. I assume because I think the doors (and possibly the front part of the chassis) are the same as the JL so it's more economical to have one version for both.
  • Tiny rear sliding window - seems like they could have made this larger but did not - might be 12 inches wide by 8 inches high or so but just a guess
  • I COULD NOT GET INSIDE! Looks to be identical to the JL interior but I would have loved to be sitting in the drivers seat.
That's really it, I love everything else about this vehicle so without any further ado...

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon:

Jeep also brought along a few JL Rubicons and a Sahara for fun:

and last but not least, Camp Jeep was a huge hit with long lines if you wanted a ride along...

DUB was also onsite and had these Jeeps in their area along with many other vehicles Some were pretty cool and others...well not so much but I will let you choose!

  1. Here is a video with some more features. I;m good with the narrow doors. I like the under seat storage and the grill camera.

    1. Thank you, I will check the video out. I agree with the under seat storage, that is good use of the space and that grill camera is pretty cool.
